the episode begins with brown finding a rich gambler dead in a bar. brown questions a few local people, including a computer programmer, a lawyer, and a stripper. finally the breakthrough comes when grissom finds some dna from a toeprint. brown goes back to the group and finds it was actually a computer programmer the whole time, whom they had questioned before. grissom says "He who laughs last thinks slowest." and the episode fades to black.
