the episode begins with grissom finding a stripper dead in a bar. grissom questions a few local people, including a debutant, an author, and a father. finally the breakthrough comes when grissom finds some dna from a toeprint. grissom goes back to the group and finds it was actually a debutant the whole time, whom they had questioned before. grissom says "If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried." and the episode fades to black.
