the episode begins with grissom finding a pimp dead in an alley. grissom questions a few local people, including a famous singer, a pharmacist, and a father. finally the breakthrough comes when stokes finds some dna from a candlestick. grissom goes back to the group and finds it was actually a famous singer the whole time, whom they had questioned before. grissom says "Despite the cost of living, have you noticed how popular it remains?" and the episode fades to black.
