the episode begins with grissom finding a famous singer dead in a dumpster. grissom questions a few local people, including a tourist, a football player, and a stripper. finally the breakthrough comes when grissom finds some dna from a candlestick. grissom goes back to the group and finds it was actually a tourist the whole time, whom they had questioned before. grissom says "I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges." and the episode fades to black.
