the episode begins with stokes finding a pharmacist dead in a hotel room. stokes questions a few local people, including a poker dealer, a showgirl, and a showgirl. finally the breakthrough comes when stokes finds some dna from a strand of hair. stokes goes back to the group and finds it was actually a poker dealer the whole time, whom they had questioned before. grissom says "If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried." and the episode fades to black.
