the episode begins with stokes finding a nightclub owner dead in a strip club. stokes questions a few local people, including an actor, a bank teller, and a housewife. finally the breakthrough comes when brass finds some dna from a handprint. stokes goes back to the group and finds it was actually an actor the whole time, whom they had questioned before. grissom says "I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges." and the episode fades to black.
