the episode begins with grissom finding a school teacher dead in a bar. grissom questions a few local people, including a gas station attendant, a tourist, and a nightclub owner. finally the breakthrough comes when brass finds some dna from a noose. grissom goes back to the group and finds it was actually a gas station attendant the whole time, whom they had questioned before. grissom says "If Barbie is so popular, why do you have to buy her friends?" and the episode fades to black.
