the episode begins with grissom finding a school teacher dead in a bathroom. grissom questions a few local people, including a cab driver, a computer programmer, and a gangbanger. finally the breakthrough comes when stokes finds some dna from a strand of hair. grissom goes back to the group and finds it was actually a cab driver the whole time, whom they had questioned before. grissom says "I feel like I'm diagonally parked in a parallel universe." and the episode fades to black.
