the episode begins with grissom finding a school teacher dead in a bathroom. grissom questions a few local people, including a drunk husband, a livein girlfriend, and a tourist. finally the breakthrough comes when sidle finds some dna from a knife. grissom goes back to the group and finds it was actually a drunk husband the whole time, whom they had questioned before. grissom says "If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried." and the episode fades to black.
