the episode begins with sanders finding a rich gambler dead in a bar. sanders questions a few local people, including a cab driver, a mechanic, and a mechanic. finally the breakthrough comes when sidle finds some dna from a toeprint. sanders goes back to the group and finds it was actually a cab driver the whole time, whom they had questioned before. grissom says "If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried." and the episode fades to black.
