the episode begins with stokes finding an actor dead in a restaurant. stokes questions a few local people, including a famous singer, a showgirl, and a blackjack dealer. finally the breakthrough comes when grissom finds some dna from a toenail. stokes goes back to the group and finds it was actually a famous singer the whole time, whom they had questioned before. grissom says "For every action there is an equal and opposite criticism." and the episode fades to black.
