the episode begins with grissom finding a craps dealer dead in a hotel room. grissom questions a few local people, including a gas station attendant, a bank teller, and a drug dealer. finally the breakthrough comes when brass finds some dna from a gun. grissom goes back to the group and finds it was actually a gas station attendant the whole time, whom they had questioned before. grissom says "If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving isn't for you." and the episode fades to black.
