the episode begins with brown finding a mother dead in a desert. brown questions a few local people, including a drug dealer, a school teacher, and a cashier. finally the breakthrough comes when stokes finds some dna from a booger. brown goes back to the group and finds it was actually a drug dealer the whole time, whom they had questioned before. grissom says "I intend to live forever - so far so good." and the episode fades to black.
